Casting for RETURNING Performers

OVERVIEW

Winner of Best UK Scream Park, Hallowscream at York Maze is a terrifyingly entertaining night of fear and fun with 5 separate live-action haunted house attractions and over 100 actors. But be warned the frights aren’t limited to the haunted houses, roving characters and live stage shows add to the atmosphere.

Based on a farm where a terrible tragedy occurred back in 1873, and the restless souls who died on that night return each Halloween to torment those who dare to visit.

2024 is going to be bigger and better than ever and Scream Park Entertainments are at the helm. We need over 150 actors to perform in the attractions and on the street theatre team and we’re looking for the best of the best.

PERFORMING STYLES

The Flesh Pot, 2073, Corny’s Cornevil, The Singularity & Necropolis

There are five attractions and a Street Theatre team at Hallowscream, all with different styles of performance. Corny’s Cornevil, for instance, requires very physical performers who can respond and adapt quickly to the ever changing environment within a high impact maze, whereas 2073 requires actors with great improvisation skills who can interact and engage with the up-close audience.

It’s hard work, and on some of the attractions it’s also cold and wet.  You may be working outdoors, but shelter is always nearby.

PERFORMERS WILL RECEIVE

• Full training and guidance from Scream Park Entertainments ‘Scream Training’
• The opportunity to work on an award winning event with some of the UK’s most experienced and well known Scare Practitioners
• A professional acting contract
• £70 per night (£11.44p/h +) for all ages.
• Paid rehearsals
• Up to 18 Nights work.
• 2 free tickets to allow friends and family to come to the event

SCREAM TRAINING

As a returning performer, you will already have the knowledge and experience to go straight through to Scream Training.  This is the second stage of audition and you are not guaranteed a position even if you worked on previous years.  Scream Training will be for casting purposes and you need to let us know that you want to be considered.

DATE: Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th September 2024
VENUE: York maze, Elvington Ln, York YO19 5LT
TIME: 9.30am – 5.00pm (ALL DAY)

IMPORTANT: SCREAM TRAINING IS MANDATORY. YOU MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND ONE OF THE SPECIFIED DAYS. IF YOU CAN NOT, DO NOT APPLY. 

There are NO circumstances that would allow a performer to be cast without attending Scream Training.  This is still an audition – please do not be complacent, the training must be taken seriously and is a requirement for our insurance and health and safety.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME

• Completed ‘personal details & availability’ form with inserted digital photo (This will be emailed to you with confirmation of your Scream Training place 3 weeks prior, on MONDAY 9TH SEPTEMBER)
• UNDER 18 Signed Permission form (If applicable) This will also be emailed to you.

• Make sure you are wearing comfortable clothes and shoes that will not restrict movement.

• A bottle of water.

WHAT DO I DO NOW

DEADLINE 6TH SEPTEMBER

Complete the online application form by the 6th September to reserve your place at ‘Scream Training’ and to tell us your preferred training day. Please read the form carefully to ensure that you provide us with all the necessary information. On successful submission, you will receive an email from hallowscream@screampark.co.uk.

We will email you to confirm your Scream Training day on MONDAY 9TH SEPTEMBER. PLEASE CHECK YOUR JUNK MAIL.

UNDER 18 YEARS OLD

We do not employ performers under the age of 16.  If you are under 18, then a parent or guardian must sign the UNDER 18 Permission Form including their full name and their address. This form will be emailed to you and you must bring it completed to your audition.

The form will include the following statement:

“I hereby give full permission for [your name] to take part in the Hallowscream event as a performer for Scream Park Entertainments Ltd & York Maze”

THE ONLINE APPLICATION FORM WILL TAKE APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES TO COMPLETE. YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO GIVE US SOME PERSONAL DETAILS, YOUR AVAILABILITY, AND A RECENT PHOTOGRAPH OF YOURSELF.
